Surefooted LLC aims to leverage the latest balance and gait research with its innovative technology to reduce fall injuries.
Surefooted LLC has over a decade of experience developing and testing technologies that induce losses of balance and falls. From professional and personal perspective we are well aware of risks from falls. Dr. Jayakumar is an internal medicine physician who has treated many patients with fall injuries. Brad Taras had to place his grandmother into assisted living due to her fall risk. Fall injuries are a significant public health issue that largely goes unaddressed. Surefooted has made its mission to change the standard of care.
The Team
Udai Jayakumar MD, MBA went to medical school at the University of Maryland. After completing an internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, he stayed on as faculty for eight years practicing primary care and palliative medicine while getting an MBA and co-founding Surefooted LLC. His vast clinical experience includes clinic and hospital-based medicine, which gives him a strong understanding of how the healthcare system treats/prevents falls, bills for services, and is transitioning from the fee for service model to one that incentivizes value-based care and prevention. He is the CEO of Surefooted LLC and a part time palliative care physician at a hospital in the Los Angeles area.
Bradford Taras is cofounder and COO of Surefooted. Brad is an engineer from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a BS degree in Material Science and Engineering and went on to earn his MBA from UIC. He has years of industry experience in product development and marketing as a product and project manager.
